McGibbons Special Reserve Blended Scotch Whisky

McGibbons Special Reserve Blended Scotch Whisky Another range of Blended Scotch whiskies from Douglas Laing is the McGibbons range which features a bit of a golf theme throughout.

This "special Reserve" comes in a golf club style decanter and is a step up in terms of quality over the basic Blended Scotch in the range and you can tell almost straight away.

The nose has that instant hot radiator note and just feels like a quality dram straight away, raspberry notes but they are a little tarnished with hot well fired rolls and some preserved lemons. The mouthfeel is thick, especially considering the ABV and coats the mouth well with a hugely flavourful and complex dram.

Right into malt money territory i know but this is a great dram and would be a lovely gift for any golf fan also.

If you fancy trying this grab one from specialists like Master of Malt

Thanks to Douglas Laing for the official samples.

An initial dirty hot radiator note, slightly mechanics oily, burnt (or caramelised if you’re a chef) raspberry, well fired rolls and overdone raspberry pie, pickling juices from preserved lemons and a touch of liquorice appearing with time,

Nice thick oily mouthfeel, smoked raspberries and more of those well fired rolls, dried fruits edging in with mixed raisins sultanas and dried apricots. Sweetness and smoke mix gentle with a touch of oiled oak

Quite long and sweet raisiny, hints of smoke still lingering
