SMWS 10.108 Yin and Yang
An interesting 9 year old from this Islay Distillery matured in a virgin oak hogshead from the Scotch Malt Whisky Society.
Lots of interesting notes in here of mandarin, orange, black jacks and smoky seafood, this is a really tasty example of a peated dram from this distillery.
the ABV despite being high is still drinkable and a little touch of water does bring it out of it's shell.
Now sold out at The Scotch Malt Whisky Society but check out their website for more interesting single cask drams.
Soft smouldering camp fire, whilst wearing an old dusty caftan, treacle and black jack sweets, definite seaweed / sea samphire notes, a hint of seafood with fennel sauce.
Tangy menthol infused smoke with spices and orange pith and peel, definite black jack and fennel type notes, lovely sweetness underneath though
Big meaty powerful smoky notes
