Glenturret 22yr Barolo Finish (Whisky Broker)
Glenturret holds a real candle in my heart as it was the first distillery i ever visited, way back in the very late 1990s and is one i generally really like the flavours of.
This bottling comes from independent bottle Whisky Broker, and was finished in Barolo casks. The nose is interesting, it's got a really dirty underlying element that keeps making me think of Glen Scotia, but it's interesting, the palate however is where it goes wrong, theres some really bad off notes (like out of date minced beef) and it's not pleasant at all, with lots of drying notes.
This is the first Whisky Broker bottling i've had that i really could not get along with at all, so please keep checking out their other drams, this one however, it isnt great.
Keep an eye on the Whisky Broker website for more interesting casks.
Nice sweet chewy, balsamic vinegar reduction, nougat, underlying dirty malt, treacle and oily, blackberry cordial, farmyard like, reminds me more of a dirty oily glen scotia than of a Glenturret
Still a bit of that chewy fruity note, old grannies musky perfume, that sweet off note you get from uncooked mince that's passed it's sell by date, meaty sweet and a bit "funky"
Very dry and still a bit funky
