Caol Ila 2005 Cask Strength (Gordon and MacPhail)
A Gordon and MacPhail cask strength Caol Ila, made up from a few casks making this small batch, is something that i immediately go Yum to and i wasn't wrong.
Filled with fruity sweet smoke, raspberry pavlova and salty shellfish this is a sublime dram that shows just how epic Caol Ila can be and especially at a higher ABV.
This is a must have in your collection if you like peated drams, it's exceptional.
Available to buy from specialists like Master of Malt
Many thanks to Gordon & MacPhail for the official sample.
Cinder toffee and a mixed strawberry and raspberry pavlova with sticky chewy meringue. The peat is fruity and juicy and more like a posh chefs "smoked meringue" some hints of crayfish and salty chips
Salty and coastal then an amount of red liquorice laces, tangy and fruity, more of the berry meringue, chewy and mouthcoating.
Fruity, juicy, coastal and chewy
