Dewars 18 Year Old (Travel Retail)
An 18 year old blended whisky from the Dewar's stable that a friend picked up in Travel Retail for a bargain price, how could i not try this.
It's not earth shatteringly awesome but it is pretty damn tasty, lots of fruits up front, mixing fresh and dried fruits, a combination of ex-bourbon and ex-sherry casks, along with some barley sugars and digestive notes, not much smoke in here, more of a fruit bomb than anything else.
A hint of spice on the palate which grows into the long lasting finish for a 40% blend, this is very drinkable and tasty stuff and when on offer in the Duty Free stores is something you should maybe consider.
Light and fruity straight off the bat, fresh fruit salad with hints of melon and kiwi, then dried fruits raisins and sultanas and dried banana, a dusty biscuity note is next which is like butter topped digestives and some sweet barley sugar sweets hiding in the background.
More of those fruit salad and dried fruit mixed notes, vanilla cream and barley sugars, the buttery digestives are more prominent and are joined by some vanilla cream and then a sprinkling of Chinese 5 spice brings warmth.
The fruits are joined by gentle spices and a warming oakyness that lasts and lasts
