Old Pulteney 1990 21yr (Wm Cadenheads)
I'm quite lucky to have a number of good friends who spend a lot of time in and around whisky, and we all tend to share our wares a little so when my good friend and colleague Ben Kaylor and I were sharing a few drams he brought this Old Pulteney 1990 21yr (Wm Cadenheads) .
Anytime I try a dram from Cadenhead's i'm reminded of why I have so many friends that love what they do, the whisky is tasty, well looked after and priced well, what's not to like.
This dram was bottled in 2011 and Ben still loves to try a dram or two every now and again, it#s got lovely sweetness and that underlying coastal salinity that comes with old Pulteney. An interesting note of coconut, in a Pina Colada, on the nose and that pink coconut slice on the palate make it tasty stuff.
Not available direct by try picking one up at auction sites like Whisky Auctioneer for a well priced great dram.
Sweet, fruity, salty, there's definite coconut in here, like a pina colada with more fruit juice, iced gems, powdered sugar from travel sweets, salty and sherbet did dabs with the little stick of rock,
Sweet and juicy, pink coconut bars, iced gems again and more sherbert, pink wafers, saline water,
Growing, waxy, spicy, salty, yum
