Rampur Select Single Malt
An Indian single malt whisky, an expression that many will still be taken back on, but having spent time with Amrut and Paul John whiskies it comes as no surprise to those who have had a number of Indian whiskies in the past.
This Rampur, the original name for Radico Khaitan, has been making whisky for more than half a century as Indias Oldest distillery. They started producing malted barley for its blends in the 1990s, and launched this single malt, this year.
A very drinkable first release from Rampur, based on previous bottles I've tried from India the quality is there, and this is yet another very drinkable dram.
If this interests you, you can pick up a bottle to try from The Whisky Exchange or other specialists.
Many Thanks to Rampur for the Official Sample.
spiced cinnamon infused caramel, a sweetness from tropical fruits, pineapple, mango, papaya. Raisins and uncooked wet Christmas cake mix in a bowl ready to go in the oven. Very interesting nose which improves as it sits in the glass.
Vanilla essence, fresh juicy conference pears, tinned pears in syrup, Christmas cake mix, hints of spice on the edges too.
Spicy, fresh pears, yum
