Glenburgie 18yr Old Particular (Douglas Laing)
This Glenburgie 18yr Old Particular was part of the Sippin Speyside Facebook tasting by the guys at Douglas Laing.
I've not had a lot of Glenburgie over the years so this is an interesting dram for me tonight.
The nose doesn't work on this dram for me, it's too much like those salty, yeasty fino sherries that I dislike but the palate adds much more chalky fruits which I do like, a lot.
This is a dram that splits my opinion, I certainly wouldn't want to spend long nosing it but the palate and finish are worthy of spending time with it for.
Available to buy from Master of Malt and other specialists.
Thanks to Douglas Laing for including me on this tasting.
There's a tang of rubberised sweetness, it's got that funky note from fino sherry that I'm never that sure of, doughy bread notes, then some tinned peaches and dried apricots.
Quite chalky, with tinned fruits and juicy syrup, doughy bread and hints of some tangy fruit skins and citrus fruit pith, almost a hint of saltiness there too,
Drying and salty, with oaky edges.
