Benrinnes 30yr XOP (Douglas Laing)
Benrinnes is pretty much one of my bogey distilleries having absolutely hated this dram which pretty much put me off sherried whiskies entirely.
Like everything else I'm always willing to try though and when it comes to Douglas Laing drams they really do know what they're doing so seriously excited to give this a try.
Tasty stuff, not what I expected, there's a lot more floral notes that I was expecting, sugar coated flowers and sugared almonds, this is the kind of dram that really turns my opinion back to Benrinnes being a distillery I should try more of.
You can buy this from Douglas Laings online website or from specialist retailers such as Master of Malt.
Thanks to Douglas Laing for this sample which arrived as part of my fellows pack.
Interesting sweetness with tangs of gentle spices, crunchy green apples, air fix glue, crushed sugared almonds and gentle floral notes, sugar dipped flower petals, beeswax, some orange peel and pith.
Crunchy apples and orange peel, floral and spicy, sugar dipped flower petals, the spices are more sweet spiced fruits, beeswax and sweet honey, lovely stuff
Hints of spices, sugar dipped flower petals, quite drying
