Three Ships 10yr Single Cask PX Finish
A while back a campaign by Mark Hughes (@fr1day) from Whisky Tasting Fellowship to get Three Ships to release more of their maturing whisky resulted in the release of this single cask.
Thanks to Marc Pendlebury (@whiskybrother) from the Whisky Brother shop for the sample of this dram.
Matured for 8 years 10 months in ex bourbon then 14 months in ex PX sherry casks, I really enjoyed all previous Three Ships drams and with a PX addition this really will should be fabulous.
Well this does not disappoint there are definite sweet and juicy notes but also there's fabulous Manuka honey sweet and smoky notes that remind me of cask char or smoked fruits.
Fabulous dram if you can get it grab one, if you happen to be in Johannesburg pop by the Whisky Brother shop to get one.
Thanks again to Marc (@whiskybrother) for the sample
The initial nose is really interesting with almost a cask char/smoky hint before some floral notes come in, smoky Manuka honey and thick cream and jam scones, definite doughy and juicy notes I'm intrigued that's for sure.
Sweet and juicy again more of the Manuka honey, strawberry jam, afternoon tea scones and a hint of cask char this is delicious and thick on the mouthfeel, Jammie rather than oily/waxy
Sweet juicy cask char, lovely stuff
