Day 17 of the whisky advent calendar was this Mackmyra Brukswhisky the first time I've reviewed a dram from this Swedish distillery on the blog.
I've heard good things so really quite excited to try this.
This was definitely not what I was expecting, i was expecting it to be much more woody but it's much more fruity and bready, hints of spice and tangy orange peel, cracking stuff.
Pick up a bottle from Master of Malt
Thanks to Drinks by the Dram for the calendar and thus sample.
Initially very sweet with old fashioned booked sweets, a hint that reminds me of pear drops, brown bread notes come in next, sweet and malty, acetone and slightly prickly.
Tangy, like bitter orange peel notes, bready, malty and with a light prickle of spice, sweet and tangy
Tangy sweet and filled with malty goodness
