Caol Ila Unpeated Stitchell Reserve (2013 Special Releases)
Every year Caol Ila release an unpeated version for the Special Releases and this was the 2013 release version.
Named after distillery manager Billy Stitchell who retired this year, this bottling honours his 39 years at Caol Ila, following in the footsteps of four previous generations of his family!
The nose on this is outstanding, soft, sweet fudgey, and fruity and completely not what you expect from a Caol Ila, it’s an absolute corker of a dram that deserved to be called a Special Release.
Sold out everywhere i could see, although you can still buy a sample from Master of Malt
Light and fresh with citrus notes whiff of light sweet lemongrass smoke really sweet almost artificial sweetener and hints of soft creamy devon fudge, then soft stewed very sweet orchard fruits
Lots of smoke here lemongrass and cherry bake wells lots of sweetness, those cheap gummy bears, edges of earthy smoke then lots of juicy pears
Sweet and soft smoke
