Wild Buck American Rye Whiskey
This has an interesting back story as Jason (@raithrover) from the Whisky Rover blog picked up this bottle on a recent trip to Florida and is trying to get the word out on how good this craft distilled dram is.
Made in Florida by Njoy Spirits this is made using entirely traditional techniques and filtered rainwater. I'm expecting this, as a rye, to be quite spicy and I'm certainly looking forward to trying it.
Damn this is a nice dram, it's totally not what I was expecting at all and I can see why Jason wants to let others know about this dram, it's sweet and toffee yet spicy and savoury, it's right up my street and I now want a bottle of this.
Thanks again to Jason (@raithrover) for the sample and you should check out the Wild Buck website for more details.
Toffee covered rhubarb crumble, something sweet and caramel like followed by crumbled biscuits and a bitter fruitiness underlying it, marzipan and hints of ecclefechan tarts and sugared almonds, waxy lemons and a hint of beeswax, very enticing.
Wow, there's a hint of spice there on the tip of the tongue but way less than I was expecting, more of the ecclefechan tarts. That toffee covered rhubarb crumble again and definitely something waxy.
Sweet toffee pennies, beeswax and a hint of spice.
