Arran 2000 14yr (The Whisky Exchange Exclusive)
This 2000 vintage 14 year old Arran from cask #2000/1106 is exclusive to The Whisky Exchange. I'm a big fan of Arran drams which usually give them a mix of sweetness and something older, usually either tweed like or a bit dusty.
I'm seriously excited about this dram I'm a big fan of the flavours from Arran drams especially the cask strength ones, The Scotch Malt Whisky Society have produced some crackers from this distillery over the years also.
Oh this rocks my world, it's exactly what I wanted for this dram, sweet and dusty, really fabulous sweetness and that balance of dunnage warehouse dustiness, fabulous stuff that if you can get a bottle of this you should and very soon, as when others try this it won't last long.
Thanks to The Whisky Exchange for the official sample
Initially orchard fruits, lots of chunks of Bramley apples, with hints of icing sugar and undercooked pastry, then there's a hint of something dusty, like a combination of dunnage warehouses and dusty old mansions, then light syrup and more chalky sweetness.
Chalky sweetness, hints of dusty icing sugar covered orchard fruits, some hints of polished wooden surfaces, light syrup and hints of something a little more spicy, almost cinnamon ... Like a slightly spicy apple strudel.
Apple strudel and light syrup, cinnamon and icing sugar
