Scallywag Limited Edition No. 1 (Douglas Laing)
Now lets get this straight and out there right from the get go, I'm a huge fan of the standard bottling of Douglas Laing's Speyside Blended Malt Scallywag, so when they announced a Cask Strength Limited Edition version i was over the moon.
Recently announced (read the launch info here) this is a really yummy dram, the cask strength nature adding an extra level of depth to the standard scallywag, this is very drinkable, a real winter warmer that I'm sure would also be brilliant with a cigar.
I'll be hunting down a bottle of this from my favourite retailers as soon as they come in!
Thanks again to Douglas Laing for the official sample.
Wow big power hit of clove infused stewed dark fruits, lots of prunes, figs, plums, nectarines, some Seville orange and orange zest oil also, hints of menthol and fresh mint, a real blast of the minty/fresh/menthol when you inhale deeply, some sweet oak sap and pine air freshener also. The longer it sits in the glass the more toffee and treacle covered scones come through also.
Juicy, mouthwatering fruits and spices, oranges and pears, prunes and figs, melon and gooseberries, pine freshness and some peppery, clove like spices, almost like mulled wine spices, some butterscotch and treacle toffees come through also
Peppery, spicy, fresh, butterscotch and cloves
