On Wednesday night i was lucky enough to partake in the #AlliedGlassTT tweet tasting organised by Steve Rush (@thewhiskywire) from The Whisky Wire and to sample a range of Gins including this Bulldog Gin.
This English gin is made with poppy, dragon eye, lotus leaves, citrus, almond, lavender and various other botanicals (12 in total). This is four times distilled in copper pot stills, and Bulldog had the highest rating ever received by a gin from Wine Enthusiast Magazine.
the overriding thing with this gin is how creamy and ice-creamy it is, lots of that vanilla butterscotch ice cream flavour as well as floral and erby citrus notes.
You can pick up a bottle from Specialists like Master of Malt
(straight) creamy, juniper, not much citrus, quite a flat nose to be honest, parsley, herby, some vanilla
(with tonic) still creamy but brings out more citrus notes lemongrass, and white grapefruit zest
(straight) really creamy on the palate like a herby floral infused angel delight
(with tonic) sweeter more citrus orange/ grapefruit less herbal juniper though
(straight) soft creamy ice cream
(with tonic) sweet and citrussy
