The Glenmorangie Tùsail was launched officially yesterday, with our announcement here, and I am very lucky to have received a sample of this to try.
This latest in the annual Private Edition releases uses Maris Otter barley, this very rare barley is only available due to the perseverance of a couple of seed merchants that formed a partnership which would re-establish the grain’s purity and save Maris Otter from being wiped out.
It still has that distinctive citrus and appley orchard note that i associate with Glenmorangie but also has a breadth of more interesting smoked balsa and puff pastry notes that the barley has given it.
This won't appeal to everyone but for me it's a very good dram and one that I want a bottle of, it's available to order now directly from Glenmorangie Online for £75.95, and if you want one of these i would suggest you don't hang around for long as it will go quick.
Thanks to Glenmorangie for the offical sample.
Bramley apples stewed and filled into some light puff pastry with that typical glenmorangie citrus fruit notes with waxy lime peel coming through strong along with marzipan and vanilla custard and some lovel fruity sweet jam with hints of digestive biscuits and what is to me a very gentle hint of smoked balsa wood
Sweet vanilla and waxy lime, marzipan and fruit jams with more of the Bramley apples and lime peel, sweet sugar covered digestive biscuits and a hint of nutmeg and cinnamon spice
Sweet apples, lime peel and nutmeg
