Balcones True Blue 100
Thanks to Dave (@whiskydiscovery) from the Whisky Discovery Blog for the sample of this Balcones True Blue 100.
There are a few issues at this distillery at the moment related to Chip, who started and pioneered this distillery and the investors involved but i won't get into any of that other than to hope that Balcones, and Chip, both continue to produce great whisky.
This is really unusual again for a whisky, with popcorn and puff candy but it's very drinkable, even at this higher ABV of 50%.
Unsure if this will come back into stock but Master of Malt do still have a selection of Balcones drams.
i think this is slightly more subtle than the Baby blue, there's still a whack of puff candy and sugar coated popcorn but it's tamer, more subdued and less in your face, definite vanilla and creme brule, or at least caramelised dememera sugar in there too.
A real kicking edge of cinnamon and nutmeg, really powerful before the sweeter puff candy and creme brule notes kick in
huge cinnamon and nutmeg flavours.
