The Lost Distilleries Blend Batch 4
I first tried The Lost Distilleries Blend back in March at Whisky Live where it had just won the "Worlds best blended whisky 2014" award at the WWA awards.
This is a brilliant dram there's so much going on and it's a certain two fingers up to the whisky snobs who only drink malts as this blows away huge numbers of those malts. The biggest issue with this dram is that at £350 or so a bottle it's way too drinkable.
Try the Batch 4 (which includes whiskies from Rosebank, Littlemill, Imperial, Mosstowie, Glen Keith and Port Ellen) by getting a sample from Master of Malt or splash out on the new Batch 5 (which contains malt whisky from Caperdonich, Rosebank, Imperial, Mosstowie, Brora and Port Ellen) from Master of Malt
Thanks to Maverick Drinks for the official sample.
oh wow this is fabulous, the first notes i get remind me of jamaican ginger cake, there's hints of spices and demerera sugar sweetness with a bready cakey, doughy note that stretches into a hint of smoke in the background and some lovely christmas cake notes of gentle spice, sherry soaked fruits and more of that dark brown demerera sugar
sweet sugary treacle notes with hints of jamaican ginger cake and lots of sweet floral sweetness, raisins and sultanas in there too along with hints of smoke creeping into the background
treacle covered jamaican ginger cake and hints of smoke.
