Ardbeg Haar Conjures Sea Mist
Islay’s characteristic thick, peaty coastal mists have been captured in the experience of Ardbeg Haar.
Ardbeg, renowned as ‘The Ultimate Islay Single Malt’, is poured into the Ardbeg Haar carafe, which utilises ultrasound pads that emit rapid vibrations, producing micro droplets which form the Haar mist. Developed in collaboration with Dr Edwards* and Le Laboratoire, it invites enthusiasts to experience the unadulterated flavours of Ardbeg in cloud form.
A revolutionary serving tool, the Ardbeg Haar will be used by renowned mixologists across the UK to introduce Ardbeg to new whisky lovers and allow Islay malt enthusiasts a new experience.
Ardbeg Haar takes its name from the Scottish word ‘haar’ – a cold fog which sweeps in from the sea without warning, often enveloping Islay and the distillery which clings to its coastline. Just as the island’s characteristic soft water and peaty ground have always informed Ardbeg’s smoky malt whisky, today, innovation and science summon Ardbeg’s island spirit, represented by Ardbeg Haar.
Dr Bill Lumsden, Director of Distilling and Whisky Creation, explained the inspiration behind Ardbeg Haar: “The haar rolling in from the sea is as familiar sight to island life as the precious peat which influences our whiskies. We believe that in this sampling ritual we have captured the essence of its elusive qualities. The swirling mist will intrigue, immersing people in the aromas, tastes and textures of The Ultimate Islay Malt Whisky.”
