Douglas Laings two new Keepers of the Quaich
Leading independent Scotch Whisky specialist, Douglas Laing & Co announce their two new Keepers of the Quaich: Cara Laing, Director of Whisky, and Chris Leggat, Commercial Director.
On 28th April, Cara and Chris became two of the youngest Keepers of the Quaich – an invitation only Society of fewer than 2,500 members from across 86 countries who have been recognised for their outstanding commitment to promoting the values and image of Scotch Whisky.
In addition to being amongst the youngest, they are also the first British husband and wife duo to be inducted into the Keepers of the Quaich.
Their admission into the Society is a recognition of their on-going commitment to the Scotch Whisky industry.
Cara is in her 8th year working in the industry having been at Whyte and Mackay and Morrison Bowmore Distillers before joining the family business last year – proudly becoming the third generation of Laing’s at the helm of Douglas Laing. Meanwhile Chris has over a decade’s worth of Spirits experience – with his speciality being in Scotch Whisky.
Cara and Chris commented: ”It is an incredible accolade to be invited to become Keepers of the Quaich – something we are both tremendously proud of. It was particularly special being inducted on the same date and the celebrations that followed were a lot of fun – it was certainly a memorable Scottish shindig”.
The ceremony took place at Blair Castle in the Scottish Highlands with the Duke of Atholl’s private army looking on.
