Douglas Laing scoops design awards
Glasgow-based specialist Scotch Whisky company Douglas Laing was applauded by
the judges at the World Whiskies Design Awards last week for their newest releases:
Old Particular Single Casks and Scallywag Speyside Malt.
The World Whiskies Design Awards celebrate excellence in bottle, label and pack design and are judged by an international panel of design experts.
‘Best Whisky Range’ was awarded to Old Particular – a series of Single Cask bottlings with regional colour differentiation and packaged in a premium gift tube. While Scallywag – a Small Batch bottling created using only the finest Speyside Malts including Mortlach and Macallan – was awarded ‘Best Blended Malt’.
Douglas Laing released their Old Particular Single Casks series in September 2013 followed by Scallywag in November of last year. Both have become firm favourites with Whisky enthusiasts worldwide and the independent family owned firm is understandably delighted with this latest accolade:
Fred Laing, MD, Douglas Laing & Co said: “To land not one but two awards with our two newest brands is immensely flattering. The development of Old Particular and Scallywag was very much a team effort requiring considerable care, patience and attention to detail so this is for all the troops at Douglas Laing, of course our excellent design agency Pocket Rocket and in honour of our late Fox Terrier, Binks, who features on the packaging of Scallywag!”
The 2014 World Whisky Awards were announced at an awards ceremony in London on Thursday 20th March 2014.
