#AngelsandDevils Twitter Tasting
The following reviews are for drams that were tasted as part of the #AngelsandDevils twitter tasting with Morrison Bowmore Master Blender Rachel Barrie (@TheLadyBlender) on 30th October.
The Auchentoshan Virgin Oak II, the Glen Garioch Virgin Oak (which i had tasted and reviewed previously so the notes below are from that previous review) and the Bowmore Devils Casks II.
I really have fell in love with subtle flavour as i become older and the Auchentoshan Virgin Oak II really stood out for me as an absolute star amongst the others, the subtle flavours and spice work really well for me and it is totally up my street.
Three brilliant drams, and the treats to go with them were awesome too, and I loved all three but the Auchentoshan just stole the show for me.

Auchentoshan Virgin Oak II
This Auchentoshan Virgin Oak II was tasted as part of the #AngelsandDevils twitter tasting with Morrison Bowmore Master Blender Rachel Barrie (@TheLadyBlender) on 30th October.
Filled with huge sweet butterscotch flavours with hints of spice and a lot of fizz this is right up my street, it was my favourite of the bunch tasted and the one i'm likely to buy very soon indeed.

Sweet butterscotch angel delight with ginger spice sprinked on top it becomes a little cinnamon apple pie with caramalised brown sugar sprinked on it, theres a woody oaky note hanging around in the background that just feels like it's going to jump out at you and say Boo!! Then freshly scraped madagascan vanilla coats the inside of the nostrils and mellows the wood spice.
more butterscotch angel delight and caramel apple pie with grated ginger and cinammon covering it, little edges of citrus fruit jump in and out and twist with it too, more vanilla and american cream soda with time.
still some woodspice but coated with butterscotch and caramel.
Bowmore Devils Casks II
This Bowmore Devil's Casks II was tasted as part of the #AngelsandDevils twitter tasting with Morrison Bowmore Master Blender Rachel Barrie (@TheLadyBlender) on 30th October.
Put together from 13 Sherry Butts this devilish dram is seriously hard to get a hold of, and it's very much worth getting hold of, huge sherry notes and prune notes it's huge with meatiness that really grabs you, this is as much an experience as it is a drink.

chewy thick steamed prunes and damson jam, with puffs of seriously strong malt loaf thats been in the wood smoker, there's hints of bbq meats covered in thick sticky jam and ripped up plums with raisins, sultanas and apricots coming in along with hitns of small village coal cottage chimney smoke
Chewy prune soup with a huge spicy ginger, cinnamon and nutmeg hit, lots of coal fired chimney smoke as it tames off to apricot jam covered bbq steaks

Glen Garioch Virgin Oak
Only officially released in the last couple of days i was able to sample this this Glen Garioch Virgin Oak after my good friend Steve (@steveprentice) of the Somerset Whisky Blog sent me a wee drop of his sample that he received for the #GGgenerations Twitter Tasting.
As this sample was tasted blind, with no information other than the fact it was 48% ABV, my notes are based on that, and i was totally convinced that this was a rum cask as the flavours reminded me of at least one rum cak matured whisky.
I really enjoyed this whisky and will be picking up a bottle when they hit the retailers.
A very interesting nose on this, initially i'm reminded of a recent
sweet and rum like, slightly prickly and a lot of spice, nutmeg and cinnamon with ground ginger.
