Three New Bowmore Travel Retail Expressions

Bowmore black rock Three new Bowmore Travel Retail expressions with fantastic sounding names, what more could you ask for? well you could ask for them to be brilliant, and they might not be that, but they are really damn good.

From Bowmore"Bowmore Islay Single Malt Whisky, one of the world's most prized and beloved whiskies, is launching a new range of luxurious single malts, exclusively available in Travel Retail & Duty Free shops worldwide. Reserved solely for the discerning traveller, this section of premium single malts has been inspired by Bowmore's extraordinary home, the island of Islay.

Beautifully packaged, the new range takes inspiration from the magical and remote island of Islay, widely regarded as Scotland's whisky island. The trio of whiskies, including Black Rock, Gold Reef and White Sands 17 Year Old, celebrate the rich diversity of this unique and enchanting environment, whilst communicating the provenance, tradition and craftmanship of Bowmore, #PieceOfIslay.

Upholding its commitment towards whisky connoisseurs and collectors, Bowmore has created a premium and highly giftable range that pays tribute to its previous collection - Bowmore Black, Bowmore Gold and Bowmore White, which is one of the world's most collectable single malt ranges.."

ranging from £45 to £80 in price these cracking drams will be appearing in your local Travel Retail outlet over the coming months. The Black Rock was my favourite and for value for money you just couldnt go wrong.

Many thanks to Bowmore for the official samples.

Bowmore Black Rock

Bowmore Black Rock This Bowmore Black Rock is part of the new Travel Retail series from Bowmore.

From Bowmore"At the heart of the range is Black Rock, an incredibly rich single malt named after the jaggy outcrop that's clearly visable in the bay across from the distillery, which has stood on the shores of Loch Indaal since 1779. Matured predominately in first-fill ex-Spanish sherry casks, the result is a delicious balance of peat smoke, treacle toffee and orange."

I really enjoyed this one, the light smoke and sherry influence work well, for the price (around £45 for a litre) is't a cracker too.

Many thanks to Bowmore for the official sample.

very little smoke but it is there in a malty coastal salty way but it's masked but a huge sweet sherry hit, a tropical fruit salad of pineapple, mango, papaya and dragonfruit dipped in mollasses with a hint of chalk,

a lovely sweetness, with a hint of citrus and white pepper, missing the fruit from the nose a little

hints of pepper and chalk

Bowmore Gold Reef

Bowmore gold reef This Bowmore Gold Reef is part of the new Travel Retail series from Bowmore.

From Bowmore"Venture further out to sea, deep beneath the waves, and you'll be greeted by the island's reefs. The warm glow of the sun's rays reflecting off the coral seabed can be seen in the deep golden hues that catch your eye inside every bottle of Gold Reef. A satisyingly smooth malt, it's matured mostly in first-fill ex-bourbon casks with notes of vanilla, citrus fruits and coconut milk.."

This is a perfectly drinkable Bowmore, it has everything you expect from the range with smoke, citrus fruits and vanilla, easy to drink, it will be priced around £60 for a litre.

Many thanks to Bowmore for the official sample.

The smoke is there at first but goes just as quickly, very fresh underneath with citrus fruits, lemon and lime Some redcurrants and a hint of christmas nutmeg join a coating of honey and methol

smoke at first with some grated ginger and chalky with a hint of meat, like eating pastrami off a bit plasterboard

touch spicy and chalky

Bowmore White Sands 17 Year Old

Bowmore white sands This Bowmore White Sands is part of the new Travel Retail series from Bowmore and the only one of the three new expressions to carry an age statement.

From Bowmore"Bowmore White Sands 17 Year Old is the pièce de résistance in the range. Not only is it Bowmore's Master Distiller Eddie MacAffer's personal favourite, it has also been inspired by the stunning beaches of The Big Strand and Laggan Bay, a stretch a coast just south of the Bowmore distillery. The whisky has been matured for 17 years in Bowmore's legendary No.1 Vaults, the oldest maturation warehouse in Scotland. Savour notes of rich treacle toffee and ripe exotic fruits bound together by warm peat smoke."

The bourbon influence here works really well, and i enjoyed this, it will be priced around £80 for 70cl.

Many thanks to Bowmore for the official sample.

there's a gentle coastal smoke here, smoldering beach campfire type, with coastal saltiness then comes the fruit it's a tropocal fruit explosion with a lump of dried pineapple freshly scraped vanilla seeds rounding this one off.

sweet and juicy with seriously juicy fresh jam, oodles of raisins and some gentle toffee

a hint of pepper on the finish with fresh strawberry
